I have ALWAYS loved films and film music and I believe that film composers belong in the pantheon of 20th and 21st century composers that everyone knows and loves. Whether it's orchestral (Bernard Herrmann, John Williams), experimental (Gil Melle's Andromeda Strain), synthesizer (my latest favorite is Ex Machina's score by Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury) - even perfectly crafted pop music can support the story (Wes Anderson's musical taste is inspired). I also have a deep affection for minimalist artists like John Luther Adams, Brian Eno and William Basinski. I live somewhere in this spectrum of influences.
When I decided that scoring films would be a big part my creative focus in 2011, I was almost immediately embraced by the adventure documentary community of filmmakers and storytellers.
